🕯️ Step-by-Step Guide to Using a Candle Melt
1. Get Your Warmer Ready
• Ensure you have a wax melt warmer (sometimes called a wax burner). These come in two main types:
• Electric Warmer: Uses a heating element or a low-wattage light bulb to melt the wax.
• Tealight Warmer: Uses a small, unscented tealight candle placed underneath a dish to heat the wax.
• Place the warmer on a stable, heat-resistant surface away from drafts, curtains, and flammable materials.
2. Add the Wax Melt
• Take your candle melt (which usually comes in a segmented bar or small cubes/tarts).
• Break off one or two cubes/chunks and place them directly into the small dish (the top bowl) of your warmer.
• Do not add any water or oil.
• Start with a single piece and add more later if you want a stronger scent throw. Do not overfill the dish to prevent spillage when the wax melts.
3. Turn on the Heat
• For an Electric Warmer: Simply turn the warmer's switch on or plug it in.
• For a Tealight Warmer: Light a single, unscented 4-hour tealight and place it carefully into the opening beneath the dish.
• Within minutes, the wax will start to melt, and the beautiful fragrance will be released into your room.
4. Enjoy and Turn Off
• Enjoy the fragrance! For safety and to prevent the scent oils from burning off too quickly, it is generally recommended to only use the warmer for 3-4 hours at a time.
• When finished, or before leaving the room, simply turn off the electric warmer or safely extinguish the tealight.
✨ When and How to Change the Wax
The wax itself does not evaporate; only the fragrance oil does. You can reuse the same wax until the scent is completely gone.
How to Know When to Change It
• The wax melt is "finished" when you can no longer smell the fragrance when the wax is fully melted. This usually happens after 8-12 hours of total melting time per standard cube, but this can vary.
Two Easy Ways to Remove Old Wax
1. The Cotton Ball Method (While Warm):
• Turn the warmer on for just a few minutes until the wax is slightly softened on the bottom.
• Place a few cotton balls into the melted (but not scalding hot) wax to soak up the liquid wax.
• Wipe the dish clean with a paper towel and add your new melt.
2. The Freezer/Pop-Out Method (While Cold):
• Turn off the warmer and let the wax cool completely and solidify.
• Turn the warmer on for just 30 seconds to 1 minute to slightly loosen the bottom.
• Gently push on the side of the solidified wax with your thumb, and the entire disc should pop out in one piece.
